We have a new edition to the Perrero family. Our sweet little boy came just about a week early and thankfully so because I could not take one more day of pregnancy. I was induced on Thursday and it was a long day of waiting for my turn. Luckily they fit me in at the end of the day and by 4:00 p.m. I was set up in my room and ready to get the show on the road. They always say labor is half as long the second time and I didn't believe them...but they were right my labor with Brae lasted about 9 hours and Rade took only 4 hours. It was all very fast!

Here is me and Brae waiting for baby Rade to come. We were so excited, she didn't have a clue that her world would be changing though. She has had a few rough days and luckily we have lots of family around to keep her being spoiled and to give her some extra love. Not even 24 hours after Rade arrived Brae made the comment, "I'm sick of that baby."

When it was time to deliver Rade, Grandpa Greg took Brae to play on the playground outside. When she came back she was very very surprised to find a little baby. She immediately loved him and hasn't stopped since.

I love when babies are at the hospital and so sleepy. Wishing he was still so sleepy, especially at night.

We love our new baby Raden and can't wait to see what his little personality will be like!

Lots of camping and talking!

We have been camping a few times this summer and had really fun times. Although Jeff and I don't love to get dirty, Brae can't get enough of it. It was so fun to be able to go on all the little outings with our family that we have missed over the past few years. This first picture was when we were coming home from bow hunting/camping. We were pulling Jeff's parents trailer when suddenly a part of it was ripped off by a wind storm and Jeff and Tyson had to go rescue the remains. Tyson was not happy about it :)

We went on a family reunion to island park with my dad's family. Brae loved being with all the kids! There were so many people there, yet so many missing. Jeff didn't get to come on this trip with us... sometimes it stinks having jobs. We played minute to win it games. This one is where you start with an Oreo on your eye and try to eat it without using your hands. This one is Grandpa trying to complete the task.

Just some pictures of the gang hanging out around the camp fire. We did so many fun things on this trip, we played games, floated down the river and fished. Thanks Page family we had such a fun time!

Brae loved to go on four wheeler rides and stop to pick all the flowers.

Sadly, this is the only picture I took while Jeff and I were in Lake Powell :( The boys were doing some cliff jumping and trying to catch a football... I did not approve!

Jeff went on his Elk hunt this past weekend and had a blast with the boys. We missed him, and are glad it is over.

Catching Up and Our New Life

Before we left Kentucky we did lots of fun things...

We had a visit from my Grandparents. It was so fun to spend time with them and Braelyn got to know them very well! She loved to play with Grandpa and he was in charge of her babies.

We had good food with the Perrero family! It was so nice to have Jeff's family there to support him for graduation. We also got some good shopping in at the outlets!

We had to say goodbye to so many good friends and neighbors. We also had to leave our first home :(

And of course we had to get family pictures in downtown Louisville before we left. Thanks Amanda Graves for the beautiful pictures!

Jeff''s parents remodeled his grandparents home for us and it is so so so nice. We are still getting used to our new place and sometimes we feel like we are just here for vacation and will be back to Kentucky in a few weeks.

We visited my grandparents at their home in Northern Utah. It is beautiful there.

When Brae smells she blows out of her nose.

We spent a day with my family at the Zoo and of course Brae like it.

Brae is talking so much and she learns all sorts of things from her cousins. Such as... no no no, go away!, no way, mom go?, thank you, moe moe moe (more), help you and much much more.

She has also learned lots of animal noises and what the animals are. She loves her letters in the tub and can find A, B and X. She loves the letter X and says it so cute :)

Jeff started work today and I will start as soon as my background check goes through. Jeff is at Ashman Dental in Provo so if anyone needs a dentist he is ready! I am going to be working the night shift at Utah Valley Specialty Hospital. I'm not looking forward to working, but I am looking forward to extra money and good insurance.

Happy Happy Birthday Braelyn Dear

It has seriously been ONE year since I had this sweet baby girl! It seems like yesterday I was so scared for my baby who did not weigh enough, could not keep her temperature up and possibly had Cystic Fibrosis. Luckily, she has turned out to be as perfect as can be.

We had a fun little party for Brae with close friends and neighbors. She was having a rough day though...she had a runny nose and a fever. So my little girl who never stops smiling has not one inch of a smile in any of her birthday pictures :(

Even though she was sick and had a lack of appetite, she did not miss out on her chance at sugar! She loved her cake, but she was really dainty with it. There was no big mess, just dirty fingers. I tried to make a fondant, three-tier cake...but...it didn't work out very well, so I found these cute cupcakes the morning of the party! I'll have to blog about the cake making later, there are some good pictures.

The kids totally enjoyed themselves!

We had so much fun at the gym that we did not have time to open the presents. Thanks everyone for all her fun things.

House Sold!

Our house has SOLD!

We are still not sure about our closing date, but it should be around graduation time! Things are really coming together for us. We can't believe it has almost been four years. Dental School has flown by.

Here are a few updated pictures of Braelyn. We have been enjoying the Spring weather and have spent lots of time out with the neighbors and friends.

Last night right before we came inside, Brae pointed up at the moon and signed ball. I love that she is learning so much and is so curious about everything.

The pictures of her in her red jacket are on St. Patrick's Day. She did have a green shirt on and the inside of her jacket is green. I love to take her out on the deck and have a mini photo shoot, but she gets irritated with me as you can see by the photo.

Learning and Walking

Braelyn has recently started to CHOOSE to walk. Although she has been able to walk for well over a month now, she has realized that walking is much faster than crawling. There have been lots of bruises and crying, but she still gets up and tries again and again.

We have been watching signing times every day (it is the only way she holds still long enough to get her hair done). She loves it!!! I uploaded a short clip of me trying to get her attention while watching Signing Time... She signs:

Prayer (We taught her to fold her arms when we say prayers and now when I say prayer she gets ready. She even attempts to say AMEN at the end)

She also knows where her belly button is, well...sort of, sometimes she points to her chest or leg. She can show you her tongue and point to your hair, nose, eyes, ears, mouth, hands and feet. She also thinks she knows what a pig says and she does do the same noise every time and scrunches her nose up :)

Brae looks more like her dad...at least that is what people tell me. So one day we decided to do Daddy's hair. Brae thought it was funny.

Oh yes and she loves gum! She is definitely a Perrero!

SpRiNG BREak!

These first few pictures are at the end of our Spring Break. I have been watching the neighbor boys on Monday and Wednesday. Brae loves them at the house and she especially loves to ride in Carter's truck! Somehow they all wore blue that day:)

Braelyn has been walking so well inside that we have given her a few chances to try her skill outdoors. She loves outside and if you ask her about it she immediately looks at or walks to the door and whines to go out.

We spent most of our Break in Williamsburg, VA. It was so much fun to see the historical sites, relax, enjoy food and friendships. The drive was 9 hours! Brae did great in the car, although there was a few tantrums, she learned some new signs and how to show everybody her tongue.

I can't believe that they held prisoners in these before their court trials. Jeff and Ashley got to be in reenactment in the courthouse. I don't have any pictures because Braelyn did not want to listen.

Matthew and Brae became best of friends. You will see later, that she cried whenever Matthew was going to bed. I love her pigtail hairdo, especially after it comes out and she has horns.

We came across wild Bamboo. It was the first time I have seen so much of it. Brae loved it and so did Jeff, I even snapped a shot of Jeff climbing up the shoots.

I love this picture. Too bad, Jeff has his admission sticker on :(

This was a first for Brae. That's right, she had never been in a swimming pool before and as you can tell by her expression she was thrilled. She didn't mind doing back floats, kicking and yes..being dunked. That's what you get when your mommy taught swimming lessons for five summers.

Tonight we had family home evening and Brae showed her newest skill...folding her arms. It is so fun to watch this little girl grow, we love her more every day!

Braelyn is getting so big! She is 10 months old and learning all sorts of new tricks here are a few:

She knows where lights are (like if you say where is the light?...she looks up and points to it)

She signs baby (she loves her baby dolls and kisses them lots)

She can about 10 steps but she is a big CHICKEN

She had a playdate with Bennet (he was recently adopted from Ethiopia). His mommy and I went to nursing school together and it was so fun to hang out with them!

Braelyn and I spent 10 days in Utah and watched my brothers and a few of my cousins while the parents went on a cruise. One night we went to Classic Skating's Bounce House. It was crazy!

Braelyn loves her daddy! They play when he gets home from school and she laughs and laughs.

STeaching her to sign has been really fun. Both Jeff and I are amazed at the things she memorizes and how she can communicate. These show her three favorite signs BABY, MORE and ALL DONE.

Graduation, Birthday, Christmas, Dress and Duck...

I have finally graduated nursing school. I still have to take boards, but being finished is such a relief. YAY YAY YAY! I graduated at the top of my class and got a fancy award for it, Jeff was very proud and I was very surprised.That same night we had our own Christmas in Kentucky. Jeff got a gas blower, Braelyn got clothes and a few toys and I am getting a sewing machine. We are so exciting
All the little girls in Jeff's family got these gorgeous dresses. Brae looked so cute in it!

I love this picture of her eyes...everywhere we go people comment about her pretty eyes and long lashes.

She loved the cat at Grandma's house. She was always trying to get them but was not very successful.

The little girls got to take a bath together and they had a blast. Brae loved being around Averee and Taylor.

I wrapped Jeff's Christmas present and Braelyn loves it! She keeps picking at it and trying to eat it. Christmas should be fun this year with all the boxes, tissue paper and wrapping paper.

We have been trying new things with her hair...this is the remains of a side ponytail :)

More Brae...

This is a post for our families...preparing them for the little girl coming to visit. She is trying to reach her Christmas presents. She gets up on her tippie toes and grunts.
I do not remember if it was Brandy or Great Grandma who gave Brae her hat, regardless it finally fits and it is adorable.

She is starting to balance but she does not understand to fall to her butt, she just free falls to anyone in front of her.

She is our little screamer. Jeff's mom told us that Jeff was always screaming with a high pitch and I think Braelyn is a MINI Jeff.

She has started to laugh hard! She is also cruising around getting into everything. Jeff said the other day, "she is a real person."

Her new tricks are walking around and around this chest until she falls down. Every once in a while she gets adventurous and goes over to the couch and back. She is getting very daring! We are excited to come home and show everybody this fun "real person."

Crawling

Braelyn worked and worked all day long to learn to crawl. For the past few days she has been getting up on her feet like this... She did not like the leaves very much.
Except for when there was only a few :)

Then tonight she started to really move. Mom and Dad are very excited and proud. Brae does not seem to care. We cannot believe how fast she is growing!

She is going to be a strawberry on Halloween! We went to the ward chili cook off / trunk or treat and they had a place to take pictures. I love some of the pictures we took.

HOME: our home is leak and maggot free thanks to my wonderful husband!

SCHOOL: I am so close to being done...one more day of night shift, 3 more tests and a 30 page paper!

BABY: She is growing up so fast. Just this weekend she started shaking her head. She does it so dramatically that when she is sitting she knocks herself over. The funny part is, I did it when I was a baby too! She wants to crawl, but is not quite there. She is finally enjoying baby food, but her body is not..constipation :( Any suggestions???

Our House...

So...this past weekend was a big shock! I got home from the hospital early Sunday morning and of course fell into bed. A few hours later Jeff woke me up and said the ceiling in the kitchen was leaking from all the rain. I didn't care much about it and I quickly went to sleep.

When I awoke later that afternoon, I found my kitchen looking torn apart with rags and bowls and little slugs on the floor and counter tops. I was so disgusted that I didn't even take pictures... :( It grossed me out so bad... Jeff got home and took some of the little slugs outside and the neighbors told him that they were maggots. Yes...maggots in our kitchen. I spent the rest of the day cleaning, bleaching, and more cleaning. It was the most disgusting thing ever. I didn't even study for my test the next day, and if you know me well that says a lot!

On the bright side of things we have somebody coming to look at the roof tomorrow. Baby is getting so big as you can see, her personality is just showing so much and she is our little princess!Starting to stand...of course I put her up there :)

She hates the crawling position but can hold herself there for quite a while.

I went with some friends to the park and Brae loved to swing. It was so cute to see her sitting like a big girl and giggling.

Brae has been laughing so much lately. I can't help but love it every time!

School started back for me on August 24th and since then everything has been a blur. My schedule goes something like this....
Monday: School 9 -4 (My neighbor Fawn watches Brae)

Tuesday-Friday: Run errands and be a normal mommy! Write my 8 page journals, my 1 page of comments on the website and do any other random assignment for school.

Friday Night: Leave for my clinical around 6:00 p.m. (Jeff becomes the mommy!)

Saturday: Return home from clinical around 8:30 a.m. Sleep as long as I can... 3:00??? Relax, hang out, eat dinner and get ready for another night of fun. Leave at 6:00 p.m. :(

Sunday: Get home around 8:00 a.m. Sleep for 2 hours, get ready for church. When I get home from church I let myself sleep for a few more hours. Then I get to start all over the next week.

*On Holidays such as the upcoming labor day weekend I get to go in on Sunday night as well... (252 hours is what I have to have so I guess it's good to get it over with)

Although it gets hectic and crazy, I really do enjoy my clinical. Being a nurse in the night makes me feel like I'm in a dream. (Poking people, looking in places that you should never have to, eating all night long and asking all sorts of personal questions.)

We had such a fun week with Jeff being off of school. I was so lucky to have him home during the busy wedding weekend. My friend Brittney Yadon now Brittney Porter got married this week, and I debuted as a Bridesmaid. It was wonderful and beautiful. Braelyn is getting so big, we will find out all her stats tomorrow at the doctor :)This was hilarious. The flash scared her so bad and every picture looks just like this one. What a silly little munchkin.
Her newest trick is playing with her feet, we just love that she does it!

We planted flowers this week (Jeff even got a blister :)). Then we took pictures of the house, because we may need them when it comes time to sell. We wanted our lawn to be green and have flowers for curb appeal.

She hates hates hates getting her nails cut! I am finally feeling comfortable doing it.

We leave for a visit to Utah in a few days and we are very excited!

We took Braelyn to the Picture People to get a free package of pictures. Luckily I didn't LOVE the pictures so it wasn't to tempting. I did like this one but I didn't pick it because I do not like the letters at the bottom.At Jeff's parents there were baby puppies. We thought Brae would like to see them, but she didn't.
My brothers and I got to visit Jeff's dad at the Fire Station. It was very fun! We got a tour of the station, a ride in the truck and the boys squirted the hose. They loved it and Brae slept..

This is one of my favorite pictures because it is exactly what she looks like when she sleeps.

This is a view from my parents backyard. The picture doesn't even do it justice. I love Utah sunsets!

We had Braelyn's Blessing when we were home. It was held in Hobble Creek Canyon. Jeff did such a wonderful job.

We got a FIVE generation photo taken. This is a rare thing and we are so lucky we drove to Idaho to get it when we did because a few weeks later my Great Grandma Wanda Berrett passed away.

Braelyn was being so delightful and playing on her mat... I was on the computer when I started to hear her slurping noise...

I walked over and found her sucking, playing and gagging. She obviously did not want anything to do with me. And near the end she continues to suck on her arm.

This look says it all "Stop bugging me mom."

And the sucking continued....

When I checked on her again there is was a little hickey! I could not believe that she sucked herself that hard. What a goofy little one we have.

We are having such a fun time in Utah. We are so grateful that Braelyn is a healthy little baby and that she is growing so well. My dad took her to the post office last week and she weighed about 9 lbs. Everyone who meets her says she looks like a doll and is beautiful. Her personality is becoming stronger and stronger and we are enjoying all the smiles we get! We are loving being parents. Brae began sleeping about 7-8 hours straight in the night a few weeks ago and I feel revived! YAY!!

Next week we are headed to Lake Powell with the Perrero Family. We are enjoying spending time with family and friends. More pictures will be coming when Haley finishes editing :)

Baby Photo Shoot..

Our little girl is getting so big :) We go in tomorrow for her sweat test and then Wednesday we will find out whether she has Cystic Fibrosis or not. It has been a rough couple of weeks, but Braelyn is growing and getting a little more fat on her. We are so grateful for all the dinners, cleaning, and prayers. Thanks everyone!

More Braelyn

We have had an exhausting week. Braelyn is now 9 days old and mom and dad are very tired. On MONDAY we got to come home from the hospital (on the condition that we keep her bundled all the time and wearing a hat too). TUESDAY I went to school for a simulation. WEDNESDAY my mom left :( THURSDAY we went to her first Dr's appointment. She was back up to 5 lbs. and they were happy with her progress. FRIDAY I had to take a test that I missed on Monday. SATURDAY we said Hi at cousin Taylor's Birthday Party. Last night, I could not wake up to feed her, Jeff kept having to bug me until I would finally sit up. So, today we slept till 11:00 and will probably be taking a few naps during the day.

Braelyn had a few milestones this week.

Her cord fell out at only 5 days old, and still continues to bleed and get on all her cute clothes.

She got her first sponge bath. She did not like it, but was not as upset as I thought she would be. After she was wide awake and very calm.

She has tummy time for 10 minutes a day and loves to have her daddy read to her.

She met her boyfriend Brennan who is only 4 months older weighing in around 17 lbs. I think he might smush her.

Braelyn has a few nicknames... Button because her button nose, Brae, and Spider Monkey. When she is curled up next to me her hairy back makes her look like a little Monkey. She got the Italian hair!

She hates it when her hat goes over her eyes, yet she always manages to get it over them.

When you uncover them she is wide awake!

Braelyn is so so so skinny. We just can't catch it on camera...must be true that the camera adds 10 lbs.
One of my favorite memories will be Jeff's crazy hair after sharing the bed with my mom at the hospital. They must love me a lot, to share an awful bed :)

We are supplementing B with some high calorie formula to try to get some fat on her. She also has to wear a hat 24/7, so if anyone knows where to get stretchy tiny hats let me know.

We are doing well...besides the complete lack of sleep. Grandma is leaving tomorrow and I'm sure that will add to the lack of sleep. It has been so nice to have my mom here to help. We love her and are glad she and grandpa will be back next week to help and visit.

Baby Braelyn

Baby Braelyn has arrived. She was 5 lbs. 1 oz and 19 inches long. She is really long and skinny! She was born at 5:30 p.m. April, 3 2009. We are still at the hospital because she is having some trouble keeping her temperature up and she is so little that they want to watch her weight too. I have so much to blog about...

SCHOOL:

Here is my most recent accomplishment! I had four major projects this semester and this Ethiopia poster is one of the four. I almost have all of the projects done and all my clinicals at the psych unit are complete! A few more tests and finals and then I can enjoy a new baby.

SHOWERS:

I had a shower over Christmas in Utah hosted by my mother-in-law. It was so fun to see all of Jeff's extended family and to hang out with his past neighbors and friends. I was so happy to have his grandma there and to get the pink quilt for Braelyn. A few weeks ago, Grandma Ella past away. She had such a wonderful life and I'm so glad I had the chance to meet her and learn from her.

My second shower was hosted by Summer and my friend Brittney. It was fabulous and I was so grateful to all who came. I received so many great gifts and I'm so excited to dress baby Braelyn, she is going to be one stylin' little girl!

SISTER:

My little sister, Alexa, surprised me with a week trip to visit. It was so much fun to have her here and I just keep begging her to move here with me. She was at the baby shower, an ultrasound and we spent lots of time talking and playing card games. I love you sister!

BABY:

Braelyn is growing! We have had lots of extra ultrasounds because both her and I were measuring small. In the Dr's words, "You are small, not too small, and she is small, but not too small." We are still having regular ultrasounds to monitor her growth because she has a small belly compared to the rest of her body.

BUMP:

Another reason for the ultrasounds is my bump is measuring small. The doctor isn't sure exactly why, but thinks I may be carrying her low and more in my back than the average pregnant girl :) We are just glad our little girl keeps and growing, kicking and developing!

It doesn't look small to me, but here it is at week 36! Less than a month to go.

QUILT:

My friend, Erin, made me this quilt and sent it all the way to Kentucky. It is so adorable! As you can see cousin Taylor is obviously already jealous! Thanks Erin, I can't wait to have her all wrapped up.

ICE STORM

On Monday night the storm began....Tuesday morning we were pleased to find out that school was cancelled because of the snow although it was really only an inch. I had a doctors appointment and we made it without a problem. Silly Kentucky shutting down for just a little snow...
Then Tuesday night they announced that everything would again but shut down Wednesday. It was getting icy, making our yard look like an ice rink, but we had no idea how much worse it could get.

We woke up to cracking noises this morning and woke up to....
This is a really bad picture, but I didn't want to go outside to take a picture of the fallen branches in the back yard. So here is a picture through our window and screen :)

It is crazy to see all the branches falling and the trees that are bending. News is reporting that there are 100,00 without power. Tyson and Summer are here with us now because their power went out last night. They don't know how long people will be without power, some reports say up to a week. We are grateful that we have not had a branch on our house yet and we are glad to be in a warm house with family!

Our adorable little niece is growing up so fast and we just can't help but love her! I get to spend most Friday's with her, while Summer goes to work and so she has become my little model. I love to spend time with her and take pictures of her. Her personality is becoming so apparent as she learns more and more. It makes me so excited to be having a little girl! I just love to dress Tay up and do her hair! So...here are a few of the favorite pictures. (I'll send them to you Summer!)

Here is one of the ultrasound pictures from when we found out our baby is a girl. I was sad they did not do any 3D pictures and these ones were not quite as clear as the first images. She (still does not have a name) is kicking me plenty and keeping up at night. Jeff has been able to feel her almost as long as I have and he knows that he is very lucky! All of my sibling got to feel her while we were home too, they are all very excited. My parents, especially my mom, are very excited. The baby had a bunch of Christmas presents under the tree and she got some cute boots from my sister's boyfriend's mom :) I think she may be a little spoiled already. For the flight home, half of Jeff's suitcase was full of baby clothes.

My mother-in-law, Glenys, gave me a shower while we were home, which was fun and helpful. I got lots of gift cards and money because of the cost of luggage. I am so excited to go spend some of it on cute bedding and a new car seat! Thanks so much to the Perrero family for such a wonderful shower!

Happy 26th Birthday to Jeff! During our holiday vacation Jeff had a birthday and got two golfing gifts. His family gave him a Sonocaddie, which is a GPS thing for golf courses and my family gave him a new putter he has been wanting. All of the boys got excited about golf and made a mini course in my parents basement. The picture from left to right: Chad (my sister's boyfriend), Jeff, Chance (on the ground), Trace, and Burke. What a handsome bunch of guys!

Jeff also decided to let his beard grow out over the break. I really did not like it! Regretfully, he shaved it one day and still complains that he didn't keep it longer..
Before we left we had our Christmas lights up and Jeff worked extra hard on them this year. I really wanted green lights in our tree and I wanted it to look like a tree on temple square:) He didn't get it perfect, but I guess I'll take it.. Sorry about the bad picture, wish we would have had the new camera then.

One of our main Christmas gifts this year was a new camera! I was getting worried our little point and shoot just was not going to be acceptable once the baby arrives so we have upgraded. I love it! I have not had a chance to play with it to much yet, but it takes great pictures and had really cool effects.

Coming back to Kentucky was hard on both Jeff and I this winter. With so much changing in our lives we did not want to go back to school! Luckily, my semester is beginning smoothly and I had a very light week. Just enough time to start cleaning out the extra room and packing away things to the basement! I am so excited to put the baby room together and will keep you posted on it's progress!

IT'S A GIRL!!!!

She is 100% girl...the lady even said so:)

She was such a cutie! Her thumb was in and out of her mouth the whole time and at one point both thumbs were in and we could see her little cheeks sucking so hard. She is healthy and measuring perfectly. We are so excited! Now we just need to get through finals and maybe we can think about names after that. I'll have to post some of the pictures after this test, but I wanted to let everyone know.

PINK or BLUE

On December 1st, we will find out whether we will be buying pink or blue. We are so excited! Jeff is positive we are having a girl because everybody in his family has had a girl first. I really am not sure what I think. I am always saying he, so I guess I think I am having a boy. I also have a dream that I am delivering a baby and that it is a boy....but the dream also consists of Jeff not being there and me screaming at the nurses that I want my mom....I hope it doesn't come true! We want to know your opinion so vote!

OuR LittLE GUsGuS!

Without knowing the sex of our baby we had a hard time knowing what to call it. It was not a very good name, so gusgus it became. Jeff has always teased about naming his boy Gus, and I figured we will let him have his fun for a few months.
Monday I got to have an ultrasound as part of some genetic testing. I had no idea I was getting an ultrasound so I was very excited when I saw people coming out with pictures. The only bad part was that Jeff happened to miss this appointment. He was mad/jealous he missed seeing little gusgus moving about. Here are the pictures!

Gusgus did not want to wake up. She, the ultrasound lady, kept trying to get baby to move but gusgus just wanted to cuddle me and cover his/her face.

They measure the neck skin fold thickness to test for Down's Syndrome and a couple of other chromosomal defects. Everything measured normal and the doctor will call to confirm that in about a week. They also measured the length of gusgus from crown to rump which was about 3 inches.
Here is the profile shot. I don't know if we will ever find out gusgus's gender because the legs were always crossed.
The ultrasound made the whole pregnancy thing seem real. I still am not showing many signs of pregnancy so seeing a moving baby and hearing a healthy heart beat makes me feel like someday I may actually have this baby.

It is official and we are very..very excited to tell all that I am pregnant! Today we got to hear the heart beat of our sweet little baby. It was to say the least very cool as most of you already know. The baby will be here around April 19th and hopefully I will be able to finish up my spring semester before he/she arrives.

I have been dealing with pregnancy really well. A small amount of nausea at night and sleepiness are my main symptoms. The only thing I am having a hard time with is not getting my great night of sleep. I have to get up every night now to pee. I know I've got it easier than most and I am very grateful for that.

We are very excited and Jeff, especially, is so happy to finally let all the world know!

Saturday we spent the entire afternoon painting our door and shutters. I can tell a huge difference but the pictures look almost identical. We used the Hawkes paint sprayer and now our door and shutters look professionally done. Thanks Hawkes!

GOLF

Jeff had an entire week of school off and the majority of his time was spent golfing. I made him take the camera to get a quick snap shot. He was really embarrassed about asking somebody to take a picture and making the neighbors stand in it. Ha ha...it made me happy.

Neighbors and Baseball

Jeff and I have been so lucky to find great friends and neighbors. Tony and Molly, neighbors, got the entire clan of us free tickets to watch a Bats game and get a free hot dog and drink. I had to miss the first part of the game and leave a little early because I had my final the next day, but it was still a very enjoyable time. Thanks guys!

Emma is Jakes older sister. She is in first grade and is the most athletic little thing. She plays all the sports, including volleyball. She looks so cute when she comes home with all her gear on. I wish my kids would play volleyball, but with Jeff and I as parents they probably won't be tall enough:(

The Opossum

While I was gone to work one night Jeff spotted a furry little creature. At first glance he thought it was a cat, but when he looked again he ran like a girl. Luckily he knew I would need some pictures and as he ran away he went to the house to find our camera. He got up his nerves and tried to take some pictures of the opossum. Unfortunately, he only got one picture and the batteries in the camera went dead. Thanks for trying honey!

A Mess of Peaches

We canned our peaches and it was a long dirty job. I don't know if I'll be able to talk Jeff into helping with that project again. To add to our mess, we didn't end up with enough jars so we had to freeze some peaches and make some jam during the canning project. They turned out, we think, we have yet to use them. Peach pie in the fall and winter will be amazing!

Today we went to Huber Farms to pick some fresh peaches. Summer decided she was going to can peaches and I wanted to learn too. So, we headed up to get fresh, cheaper peaches. They are delicious, I actually taste tested them at the farm :) Now I can not wait until Thursday or Friday to do the canning. Hopefully we don't eat them all up before then.Don't we all make cute fruits and vegetables. Even baby Taylor made it in one.

For family home evening the past two weeks Jeff and I each taught each other something we do often. I learned to tie a tie and Jeff... he made a card....

Jeff did not like that I wouldn't tell him exactly how to design his card...look at that frown, all those Perrero kids can do it!

Luckily, all that practice with his hands at school helped him make a soccer card. He was so funny because he measured out each line perfectly and got really upset when one goal looked different than the other. He is such a silly boy!
We both finished our cards and now we'll just have to use them.

Ghetto Salon

I have been cutting Jeff's hair since we moved to Kentucky. We figured it would be much cheaper to buy some clippers and scissors and let me whack at him. My business is now moving onward to the neighbors. Jace didn't want his mom to cut his hair, but he thought I might be a better choice. I only know one haircut and so Jeff and Jace have the same "do!"

Unfortunately, our salon is a little ghetto. The back deck was an obvious choice because of lack of clean up. Jace was not happy that the humidity was making all his hair stick to him and itch though. My apron is actually for cooking, but what the heck I was already dressed for the day and I needed something to keep the hair off of me:)

Scotch-a-roos!

I totally forgot to post this recipe that went with an older post...so here it is our favorite yummy treats. Thanks Willson family for the tasty recipe!

1 cup sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1 1/4 cups peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 Tbsp. butter
6 cups rice krispies
1 cup milk chocolate chips
3/4 cup butterscotch chips

1. In large pan, cook sugar and corn syrup over medium-high heat until it reaches a rolling boil, stir frequently! Add butter, PB, and vanilla. Stir until well mixed. (BE careful not to let it burn or you will have little bricks to eat) Mix in the rice krispies.

2. Place in 9 x 13 pan. Even the mixture out but don't press hard!

3. Let cool while you make the frosting.

4. FROSTING: Melt chocolate and butterscotch chips in microwave, stir often. Frost the top of the rice krispie mixture and let cool.

I am officially 22 years old. Most of my birthday celebrations was at home with my family, but Jeff did surprise me with roses on July 7th, my real Birthday. He is such a sweetheart. We also went out to dinner, shopped for a new outfit and got ice cream at the Barrel of Fun. (this is my favorite place for ice cream and it is just 1 mile away from our house)

In Utah my family had cake and homemade ice cream. I got a few exciting gifts and I am so excited about my new ice cream maker, I think we will be using it very soon! Mom and Dad also gave me a few new shirts and running clothes. I had such a fun time. Thanks everybody!

I was missing home desperately and when a sudden two week break sprung upon us we decided to pack up the car and take a road trip home. After I took my pathophysiology test we began our 23 hour trek to Utah. With no kids, the night owl Jeff, and early riser me, we made it with minimal stops to gas up and grab some grub. We listened to Twilight and talked and talked. I would drive a couple hours before it got dark and Jeff would take a nap. He is such a trooper to drive through the night, and when the sun started to come up he would wake me up to finish.

Here we are at one of our gas stops. "Boog" our greenish bluish Toyota was getting awesome gas mileage 36-40 mpg!
St. Louis was a scary drive, we thought a tornado was going to hit.
We saw so many windmills I think they are somewhere in the middle of Nebraska???

Once we were home we rested up and played with our families. My family was pretty chill as usual and we spent time geocaching, at the lake, bowling, swimming, watching movies, golfing and shopping. Jeff's family had their annual family reunion. We had a blast hanging up in the cool canyon and playing with all the nieces and nephews. Jeff had only one disappointment, POISON IVY! I would feel bad, but the boys went golf ball hunting down the creek with shorts on...Silly boys. However they did find over 600 balls. Jeff says it was totally worth the poison ivy, which has still failed to disappear. Unfortunately, all the picture taking was on my parents camera and I have not yet got the email with them. I ALMOST FORGOT.... we had a near death experience on the Fourth of July. We were driving back to Louisville, almost to Iowa and I was the lucky driver. It was dusk so my driving time was about up when we came over a hill and a deer was in the middle of the highway. I swerved to the right and thought I had dodged it, but then it ran towards the car and I have no idea how it did not hit us. Jeff was sleeping until my screaming and swerving came. His eyes were so big when he darted up:) He just kept telling me "you did so good, you didn't over correct." I was so uptight and my hands were sore from gripping the wheel so hard. Luckily we made it safe and so did "Boog."

During my last pathophysiology class our teacher who is a NP, emphasized doing our monthly examinations. The focal point was that not only do women need to be doing breast exams monthly, but men need to be doing testicular examinations. The average age for testicular cancer is 15-34!

Our teacher was very concerned because she recently diagnosed a 24 year old with metastatic testicular cancer, meaning it has already moved to other areas of the body. She said his prognosis isn't very good and his only symptom was an aching lowing abdomen. Monthly examinations could have helped him find his grape sized lump a little earlier :)

The testicular exam is very similar to the breast exam, look for a FROZEN PEA... Here are a couple of links with more information for both exams.

Derby was such a fun time this year. Jeff's parents and my dad were in town and we were at Churchill Downs ALOT! Our first races were with the Perrero family. A patient of Summer's is a big guy down there and he took us on an awesome tour and gave us free tickets for the Spring Meet.

Oaks day started out so beautiful and we had awesome seats as shown in the picture. My dad's friend Layne knew a trainer who got us very pricey tickets for FREE! We had a great time until the rain began. The headlines the next day described it perfectly, "SOAKED AT THE OAKS." It was really funny to look onto the paddock before and after the rain, I don't know where all the people went.??

After an exhausting rainy Oaks Day, we were hoping for a gorgeous sunny Derby. The forecasts were not great but the sunshine came through. Again we sat in the grandstands with tickets worth $260 a piece. (These weren't even box seats, more like isle and walking space tickets.) We had an enjoyable day watching races, hats, and all the rich horse owners sitting by us.

We took a trip to the infield and found girls in the mud and some of Jeff's dental school friends. WOW it was crazy out there:) My favorite part of the day were the hats. I could not believe how crazy some of the hats were!
When the Derby race came it was so exciting. Everybody stood for about 30 minutes pre-race. The owner of Big Brown and his family sat right by our standing area and they were so shaky and nervous before the big race. When Big Brown won they rushed down to the field in tears.

Thanks Layne and Dad for making a very fun Derby day for Jeff and I.

RUNNING!

After four months of training the MINI MARATHON is done! It was such an amazing feeling to cross the finish line. I never thought I would be able to run that far because in high school I could barely squeeze out a mile. I finished in 2 hours and 9 minutes, running just under 10 minute miles. I was sure that my hard training would make the 13.2 mile journey easy, but I was wrong. My body was exhausted and 1 1/2 days later I am feeling it! My body aches everywhere. The weird thing is my upper back and shoulders are the worst. (I thought my legs would be the most sore. :)

My friend Brittney from nursing school ran with me and helped push me to finish. I am so grateful I have her to help me during these nursing school years. I'm pretty sure Heavenly Father knew I needed a good friend. I don't know what school and life would be like without her.

Jeff, Summer, Baby Taylor, and Porter (Brittney's boyfriend) were all there to support us. It was so nice for them all to be there for us. Thanks guys!

I feel like I can do anything I really want to do, and I am so happy to be done training at least for a little while :)

I made Scotch-a-Roos for a nursing bake sale the other day and Jeff loved them. We decided to make another batch to take to a friends house. Jeff helped this time and the results were not quite as good as I had.

Jeff was in charge of stirring while I added ingredients. As I was getting the Rice Krispies the mixture began to burn, but Jeff had no clue. He just kept on stirring while it turned dark brown. Of course when I saw it I freaked out and blamed him for ruining the dessert. He felt really bad and was disappointed that his treat was burnt. We still pored out the mixture but as you can see, it was a little HARD! To make his day worse, I made him wear the pink shirt:)
Fortunately, we had enough of all the ingredients to start over, our Scotch-a-Roos were delicious and Jeff was a happy boy again!

SpRiNG BReaK 2008

After the first day of cruising, I didn't know if was my kind of thing. During dinner the boat began to move and I was sea sick for the rest of the night. Luckily I had anticipated this and brought some dramamine. From that point forward, I was sea sick free! The girls and I had a very fun trip. My favorite part was in Nassau, we rode scooters around the city to non-tourist beaches and through the neighborhoods. It was gorgeous!!

These pictures are more of the scenery. Some are from Daytona, the port, Coca Cay, and Nassau. It was so beautiful, I have never seen water so clear. (I could see my feet, in deep water.) The hotel picture is the Atlantis, I hope I can stay there someday, it was gorgeous. Unfortunately, the cheapest room was $600 a night! If you haven't ever seen it you should google it.
Overall, my trip was awesome. I was sad that Jeff wasn't there to see everything, but that just means I get to go back someday. :)

It's Been so Long!

Wow! It has been a long time since I have blogged. Christmas was hectic and as soon as we got back to Kentucky, school began. I knew nursing school was going to be time consuming and difficult, but man, all I do is study! Therefore, the blogging, emailing, and all the things I actually enjoy have been pushed aside. Here are some of the highlights of our time in Utah, we had so much fun being with family and relaxing.

Jeff had to operate on my sister, Alexa. Jeff's brother-in-law took out her wisdom teeth and he assigned Jeff to remove the sutures. Alexa was a little nervous! All went well, except for Jeff's complaint of poor lighting. :)

Another on of the big adventures was on Christmas day. A few of the nieces and nephews got paintball guns from Santa. Jeff was so bored that he offered to be the running target. He got all dressed for the snow, and added extra clothes for padding. The kids, and men, loved it.

I better get off to studying. Hopefully I'll get around to some more posts soon.

Finally the Leaves Fall

It is officially December and are leaves have finally fallen. We decided to rake up the mess and then play. The neighbor kids love to come too.

We had to work really hard before we played. It started out cold, but after a few minutes of hard work, I was hot. I was sore for the next couple days too :) Jeff did not want to do this again, so he tried to get all the rest of the leaves off the tree. It was not very successful.

Unfortunately, we stayed out so late with our little friends, that it was too dark to finish the job, and we still have to bag the leaves. What fun memories! I cannot wait until we have kids of our own to jump in with.

Lighting up for Christmas!

The warm weather this weekend gave Jeff and I Saturday to put up Christmas lights. Although we are not here for the actual holiday, we like to appease our neighbors. We were so excited to put up our candy cane lights that we bought at the end of the season last year.

I thought Jeff was going to fall and die a couple times, but luckily we had only damage to his shoes and pants. I have never seen him hold on to anything so tight!
I thought I would help some, but after climbing the ladder once and not being able to get down very well, I decided to stay on the ground and give moral support!

Growing up Jeff always helped his dad put up lights, but I think he got a lot of satisfaction putting them up on our very own home! It looks beautiful, and we can not wait to have the lights on after Thanksgiving!

Good News!

It's nearing the end of the semester and as Jeff seems to be more and more busy, I tend to relax. Somehow, somewhere I learned not to be a procrastinator. This is a good thing, but it also leaves me quite bored when the semester is finishing. All my projects and papers are done while everyone else is rushing around trying to finish things last minute. This semester is especially bad because a couple of weeks ago I got some good news! I got into the nursing program at UofL! I'm super excited to start classes that may actually apply to my future. We are so excited to have the holidays around the corner, we get some good breaks from school, and we get to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with our families. Life is good!

A Sick Halloween

Halloween 2007 was not anything special. My being sick kept us away from the Maxfields Anuual Party, and left us home to study for upcoming tests:( These are some cute pictures of the neighbors, Oliva and Jace. Jace was of course a power ranger and Olivia decided to be Hannah Montana last minute and I had to three-barrel her hair. They were adorable, along with many other of our trick or treaters. Today, I had a panick attack when Kristi, Olivia's mom, had to go pick her up from school because they thought she had lice. I was worried sick that I would have lice too, since I did do her hair just a couple of days ago. Fortunately, it was a false alarm and there are no lice to be found!

After much debate, Jeff and I decided to spend our fall break weekend in Indianapolis. We had such a good time being away from school and spending time with each other. The highlight of our weekend was the Colts game. Wow...I've never been anywhere so loud in my life. (I think I plugged my ears for the first 5 minutes until everyone settled down a bit) They blew Tampa Bay away, but we are glad to say we have been to an NFL game! We stayed in a four star hotel, it was beautiful and thanks to price line, pretty cheap too. We both found ourselves reading a lot; Jeff is reading a fantasy book about Dragons and Demons and I read Twilight. It was so nice to relax in our room and read. The fair we went to was a lot like Huber farms, we had fun tasting apples and searching for rare pumpkins. Our hayride and listening to a county band made for a fun afternoon. We walked around the city alot and enjoyed seeing all the sites and cool restaurants. I've never been to such a stinky city, every time we walked past a sewer manhole there was warm air and a stench. It was a hot weekend downtown, adding to the stink. Now I know why in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the people thought those holes were gross. Overall, it was a fun weekend getaway that we both needed.
